Job search strategies are easy in this digital era, which was not before. But Pandemic has made it complex again. Sometimes, it feels like this whole world is going through some kind of catastrophe, sometimes it feels like a nightmare.

Everybody is disturbed, worried, afraid for their life. One of the devastating effects of Covid-19 is experienced in the world economy.

Millions of people have been losing jobs, standards of living are getting declined in quality. As a result, without adopting some strong strategies, it is going to be very difficult for you to find a job in the pandemic.

Leave others to spend their time watching movies, drama series, or playing games. As a follower of “Youthrider”, we want you to be ready to face the after-pandemic era.

So, let’s dive, into the effective job search strategies during a pandemic situation-

1. Urgency of the Job-

Before strolling on any job sites, think about the urgency of the job. I mean, if you are already employed, then you should focus on securing your position.

If you are unemployed then, any opportunity which will weigh your moneybag is the best option to hold onto.

Even if you can’t manage to get to your dream job, accept the available opportunity.

It’s transient and situations will ultimately get better if our Lord wants. So, keep the faith.

2. Ameliorating Online Networking –

Use social media sites as your networking tool. Now, you can’t meet people sporadically, so utilize this cheapest and easiest way of finding jobs in a pandemic.

Get connected with professionals. Join a job seekers group or professionals group.

Regularly join the group chat. Through this, you will get an idea about the current job market and what skills or qualifications are in demand. And start preparing accordingly.

On the other side, don’t hesitate to let your acquaintance know that you are looking for opportunities.

You can inform family or friends or even your ex-colleagues regarding this issue. As a result, they will be able to inform you, if they find any suitable avail.

3. Skill Development –

Well, this is probably the best time to boost your skills. Take some professional courses online.

This will help you to adjust to the market demand. The after pandemic era will eventually favor those who can adjust their skills with uncertainties.

You can take courses from some famous online course platforms. Such as Coursera, EDX, Udemy, Skillshare, LinkedIn learning, and some more.

They offer courses on a wide range of subjects. You can choose according to your preferences to add value to your resume.

4. Being the Active on Net –

Personally, you might not be a lover of the virtual world. But this time the whole is depending on the internet to a large extent for exchanging information.

So, stay active on the internet as much as you can. Because hundreds of job-hungry people are out there looking for just a chance.

If you are not active enough, you might miss any golden opportunities. You should work on creating job alerts on your job site accounts.

Find the organizations where you want to work, follow them, and create job alerts for them too. So, you can be notified regarding any important issues of those companies.

5. Technical knowledge –

Each and every one will agree that technology is a boom for us. The importance of advanced technology never felt so urgent before this pandemic.

Now, companies are also becoming more aware of technological specialists. So, make sure that you do have basic technical knowledge and skills before you apply for any job.

Learn the most used technical tools that are made for virtual communication. Searching job in a pandemic will seem a bit easier if you are the owner of good technical knowledge.

6. Customized application-

Sending the same resume for every job position is a grave mistake. Avoid doing this. Especially during a pandemic, a single mistake like this might cost you.

Each job is different in its requirements. So, make sure to customize your CV according to the role you are applying for.

Make adjustments in your interests, interpersonal skills, hobbies, career objectives.

It is best to prepare a separate resume for all the job applications. Take your time, go through the requirements.

Keeping this information in mind, prepare your cover letter and resume. Competitions were already fierce before the virus outbreak.

And, now the situation is undergoing the worst condition of the decade. So, act like a strategic person.

7. Clever Bargain-

We understand that searching for a job in a pandemic is not an easy task. The people who are in power are already taking advantage of this situation. Qualified candidates are receiving ⅔ or sometimes ⅓ of what they deserve as their remuneration.

They are helpless. In order to gain financial support, there is nothing to be done against this.

A good chance in this pandemic means a lot. But we also recommend taking a profound thought before accepting any offer, which devalues your qualifications.

8. Be virtually ready –

Now, most of the recruiters are taking interviews online, virtually.  Some of you might not be ready to handle interviews like this.

In that case, you should practice. Practice with your family, friends. Tell them to take your interview virtually.

Trust me, it will help you a lot. Practice it several times, and you will be able to overcome nervousness and fear. When the final interview will knock on the door, you will find yourself confident and ready to make an impression.

9. A Map for the Future-

The nightmare we are going through is uncontrollable for us. So, stop worrying about something which is beyond your control. Rather, think about the things that you can control.

Such as your skills and qualifications. Sooner or later, this situation will get better. Make the best possible use of your days now.

So, you can ride the ladder of success swiftly, once this economic downturn is over. Think about what else you can do to make yourself more eligible and capable for your desired destination.

Not only you and me or us, but this whole world is also under crisis.

There is a famous saying,

“United we stand, divided we fall”

John Dickinson

We have power as long as we are supporting each other. So, it’s time to stand on each other’s side, it’s time to help each other with whatever we can.
